Crossmen first took the field in 1975 as a successful merger between two smaller suburban Philadelphia corps, the Keystone Regiment and the 507 Hornets. The corps has been a Drum Corps International Division I World Championship finalist 22 times. As an East Coast organization since its founding, the corps made news in 2006 by moving its operations cross-country to San Antonio, Texas.

Madison Scouts, one of two all-male drum corps, was founded in 1938 by a group of Madison businessmen who decided their city should have a scout drum and bugle corps. Often referred to as just “Madison” or “the Scouts”, the corps has often been known for delivering fiery Latin-themed shows. Madison Scouts won the DCI World Championship in 1975 and 1988, and is one of the oldest continually operating drum corps competing in Drum Corps International events.

Founded in 1967 from the disbanded Sunnyvale Sparks, Santa Clara Vanguard won its first of six Drum Corps International World Championships in 1973. The corps is the only unit to qualify for every DCI World Championship Finals competition since 1972. The Vanguard organization also sponsors the Open Class Vanguard Cadets, a World Class winter guard, an Open Class winter percussion ensemble and several community outreach dance programs.

James Ancona is an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Delaware. He is the Assistant Director of the Blue Hen Marching Band, Director of the Basketball Pep Band and Co-Director of the Symphonic Band. He is currently a consultant with The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps and the Front Ensemble Arranger for The Madison Scouts.

Jeff Queen is currently a percussion director for the BOA Grand National and WGI World Champion Avon Band program and Drum Line, as well as the new percussion consultant for the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. Jeff began his drum corps career with the Canton Bluecoats and continued on to march with the Velvet Knights, Santa Clara Vanguard, Blue Knights and the University of North Texas. Jeff was the Drum Corps International Individual and Ensemble Snare Drum Champion in 1994 and 1995 as well as the Percussive Arts Society Individual Snare Drum Champion in 1994 and 1995. Jeff has taught in the drum corps activity for many years, including being the caption head for the Carolina Crown drum and bugle corps from 2003-2004 and percussion arranger for the Colts Drum and Bugle corps from 2006 - 2008.

Jim Casella is a composer from Portland, Oregon. Internationally recognized as one of today's most prolific arrangers for marching percussion, Casella has served as a composer/arranger for the Santa Clara Vanguard (1996-2004), and The Cavaliers, 7-time world champion drum and bugle corps from Rosemont, Illinois (2006-09).

Dr. Brian S. Mason is a highly respected innovator of the contemporary marching percussion ensemble. In high demand as a clinician, designer, and adjudicator, he has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Japan, Canada, Korea, and Mexico...

The Cadets, originally named the Holy Name Cadets when founded in 1934, is the oldest continually operating Division I group in Drum Corps International. The corps is known for pushing the artistic envelope of innovation and has won nine World Championships since 1983, becoming the first corps to win three consecutive titles in 1985. The Cadets have performed at a wide variety of highly public non-drum corps events; including the Statue of Liberty rededication in 1986 and the opening ceremonies of the 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta.

The Florida State University Marching Chiefs, recognized by Sports Illustrated as the band that never lost a halftime, is among the largest College Marching Bands in the world.
