Gen16 Tips and Tricks - Rivets and Jingles
Hi I am Zildjian and Gen16 artist Bob Terry and this is the latest installment of AE Cymbal Tips & Tricks. In this episode we are going to be talking about adding colors such as jingles and rivets to your AE set-up. One of the coolest things about the whole design of the AE cymbals is that they can accommodate standard cymbal rivets and the addition of jingles to your set-up. The standard rivets that can be purchased from Zildjian or any manufacturer, will easily fit the holes of the AE model from the bow of the cymbal to the edge. I recommend that you start with a three rivet cluster by placing three rivets next to each other in a cluster. If you want more of a sizzle sound, you can go to the 12 o'clock, 6 o'clock, and 9 o'clock and then continue to add them equal distance until the desired amount of sizzle is obtained. You don't actually have to ballpean the rivets in but of course if you play harder, they might come out. The other cymbal add on that fits easily into the model is the tambrine jingles. You can add the HiHats, Crash, or Ride models. Whatever you desire. You can create a Bohnam style jingle hat or maybe even a special effects cymbal like the Zildjian Remix Crash models. Just take a split in rivet like you can buy at any hardware store
